Here is an exceptional (and very large) Ocean Jasper pendant. It has terrific polish on both sides, and comes with the sterling silver bail and a 3mm sterling snake necklace. This one is really unusual. The Jasper portions are white and an olive green. It also has a large druzy quartz "vug" or crystal-lined "cave" in the middle of the stone. This section has brilliantly-faceted quartz sections that really pick up the light and reflect it. Off on the right edge appears to be a forest green Aventurine section. Since the stone is large and relatively heavy, I chose to fashion it with a strong sterling bail and a 20" by 3mm snake necklace. Ocean Jasper is a variety of Jasper which contains variably-colored orbs or spherical inclusions or zones. This material is quite attractive when polished and is used as an ornamental stone or gemstone.
The name "Ocean Jasper" is used for the variety of Jasper found along the intertidal shores of northeast Madagascar. Jasper is a form of chalcedony quartz, and is opaque rather than clear or translucent like regular quartz or agate. It contains an abundance of impurities which give its interesting appearance. There are over 3,000 types of agates and jaspers, and this is a terrific representative of one of them!
A great addition to your collection. Forgive the higher-than-normal price, but the bail and the 20" x 3mm necklace added up and bit. As always, if you don't like the choice of bail or necklace, just contact me and we can make changes.
