Offered here is a truly spectacular Ocean Jasper pendant. It has exceptional polish on both sides, and comes with the copper/pewter bail and the necklace. It has beautiful swirls of pink and yellow interlaced with deep forest green. It also has unusual druzy quartz "vugs" or small crystal-lined "caves" lending it a truly unique appearance. Looks much better in person than in my photographs.
Ocean Jasper is a variety of Jasper which contains variably-colored orbs or spherical inclusions or zones. This material is quite attractive when polished and is used as an ornamental stone or gemstone. The name "Ocean Jasper" is used for the variety of Jasper found along the intertidal shores of northeast Madagascar.
Jasper is a form of chalcedony quartz, and is opaque rather than clear or translucent like regular quartz or agate. It contains an abundance of impurities which give its interesting appearance. When Jasper is dull and lacks interesting patterns or colors, it is known as Chert rather than Jasper.
There are over 3,000 types of agates and jaspers, and this is a terrific representative of one of them! A great addition to your collection.
