This striking Madagascar Banded Agate is tumbled and polished to a brilliantly smooth finish. It has sections of bands of red, orange, and even blue. The unusual part of this stone is that it has a really nice druzy quartz inclusion section - very attractive. It is made of Carnelian, which is the red, orange, or amber variety of Chalcedony. (Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline form of silica, composed of very fine intergrowths of quartz and moganite.) Perfect as a paperweight, palm stone, pocket stone, or "worry stone". It is also banded, so it is jointly classified as both agate and carnelian.
In addition to collectors, this stone is popular for those who practice Reiki, which is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
